We offer DOT Physicals every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am-5pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-2pm ( technically 5 days a week although hours vary ). The price is $50 which is a very competitive rate. We actually price match any advertised price that you can get anywhere else.
We have all of the paper work necessary in our office to get your DOT physical completed the same day. When you come to our office you will be required to complete your portion of two Federally required forms: (1) MCSA-5875 (MER) Medical Examination Report and (2) MCSA-5876 (MEC) Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
Both of these forms will need to be submitted to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) of the Commercial Drivers’s State Licensing Agency. All Commercial Drivers must have a valid MER and MEC filed with both DOT and DMV in order to legally operate the commercial vehicles.
Department of Transportation Physical Examination
If a driver fails to uphold this Federally mandated requirement, the Commercial Driver could be fined, face imprisonment, and/or have their commercial license revoked. The Commercial Driver must always keep the MER and MEC current.
During the examination, the Medical Examiner will have you complete a thorough medical history, discuss any medical conditions the driver may have (High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, Sleep Apnea) with the driver.
The medical examiner will also review all medications currently used to ensure the medications will not interfere with the Commercial Driver’s ability to operate the commercial vehicle safely. The Medical examiner may request additional paperwork and request further medical evaluation from your primary doctor’s office.
During the Physical exam portion of the exam you will undergo the following medical screenings:
- Height/Weight
- Blood pressure
- Pulse
- Urinalysis (check for protein, blood, sugar)
- Vision screening
- Color screening
- Grip/muscle strength
- ROM testing
It is important for the driver to prepare for the exam well before the day of the exam. You can do this by making sure to be compliant with taking medications (if prescribed them), drinking plenty of water, avoiding caffeine, carbohydrates (sugary foods, soda, chips, pasta, breads), and salt, exercising regularly, and being calm during your exam.
