What is BLS ?
BLS is an acronym that stands for Basic Life Support. Its in essence is the CPR card that is required for mostly those in the Healthcare field that have some type of medical license.
Is BLS the same as CPR?
The short answer is yes. BLS is a CPR course that is necessary for the healthcare field for their certification in the hospital and in medical institutions. Its a training on how to offer a team based resuscitation attempt to save someone using CPR while simultaneously using the bag mask device that delivers oxygen.

Does it Come with First Aid?
No, it does not come with first aid, but first aid is not a requirement for anyone who needs BLS either, normally someone who needs CPR and First Aid is doing some other job outside of the medical field like Care-giving, security or even child care.
So if I need CPR BLS Certification and First Aid is there a separate fee?
Actually Yes that would require an extra fee because you will be getting issued 2 different CPR certification cards, one will be BLS for Healthcare Providers and another one will be CPR /First Aid. But We do offer a $75.00 special if you need both certifications and you would like to take them both at the same time.

BLS Certification Inglewood
As you can see in the video above there are 2 people performing CPR at the same time, one person is using the bag mask device delivering oxygen to the lungs, while the other is doing compressions with 2 hands flowing oxygenated blood to the heart. This in essence is the difference between BLS certification and just regular CPR & First Aid.
For the most part people taking CPR and first aid are going to be people like:
- Care Givers
- Child Care Workers
- Athletic / Personal Trainers
- Security Guards
- Babysitters And Nannies
- Social Workers
- Flight Attendants
- Electricians or Lineman
- Students in the medical field or gaining teaching credentials

These people above as you can see are not in the medical field, so if anything happens their bread and butter is going to be offering first aid services to prevent the need of CPR which actually is dealing with a life or death emergency, CPR is really a serious topic to deal with.
These are all good questions and we are writing this blog post because we get them all the time. We understand it could be a bit confusing, our motto is no question is a bad question. For any further questions or concerns please feel free to give us a call at 310-946-2533.
